Sometimes it's not possible to get your whole subject into an image, so think about different ways to show what you want. This is the Burj Khalifa framed by palms on a hazy and humid morning in Dubai.

Le Louvre, Paris http://photos.kenlyonsphotography.com.au/blog/2014/8/le-louvre-paris

Don't forget to think about panoramic images. This image of Le Louvre in Paris is a single frame made with a 36MP Nikon D800. However, it's quite easy to make several vertical (portrait orientation) frames and stitch them together in post-production. Think WIDE!

Caught! http://photos.kenlyonsphotography.com.au/blog/2014/8/caught

This image was made in Montmartre in Paris. It was a gloomy afternoon where everyone was taking cover from the rain. I was no exception! Sitting under a large umbrella, drinking a hot café latte, I saw this young couple opposite me. I framed the image and made the photograph. Just as I released the shutter, the young lady looked straight at me! I made my photograph and then we exchanged a smile. A bright moment on a gloomy day.

Le Moulin Rouge http://photos.kenlyonsphotography.com.au/blog/2014/8/le-moulin-rouge Le Moulin Rouge, ParisLe Moulin Rouge, Paris

Don't forget to visit places at night... depending on the location you can sometimes get much better images than you would in the daytime.  It doesn't always have to be a chore either. This image was made outside of Le Moulin Rouge in Paris. I simply stepped off the Metro and walked out of the station onto the street, crossed the road and made the image.

Photography is all about vision. Observing and seeing things. Sometimes it's simply about looking for patterns and a different perspective.

Explore London 2014 http://photos.kenlyonsphotography.com.au/blog/2014/4/explore-london-2014 Explore London 2014 Workshop / Tour

London EyeLondon Eye We're excited to announce the “Explore London 2014” workshop. Come join us from 19 – 25 September 2014 as we explore the fascinating and historical city of London in the United Kingdom.

Go beyond “Auto” mode as you join us on a fun and relaxed adventure while learning what the different modes on your camera are and when to use them. Take control of your camera and create images you can be proud of. It doesn’t matter what type of camera you have, we can teach you how to master it.

We’ll show you how to see differently. As US philosopher Henry David Thoreau once said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see”. Learn to see what others don’t and start making images instead of taking photographs.

From seeing, to capturing to post-processing – we’ll be learning about street and travel photography ensuring you come away with images you’ll be proud to show family and friends.

For full details visit http://www.kenlyonsphotography.com.au/london2014

We’re looking forward to meeting you in September!
